I don't think that the school/teacher acted appropriately. he was also put under "house arrest' by the teachers for the remainder of the Ottawa trip and prevented from joining in with th rest of the planned activities, except for a musuem tour where he was 'escorted' by a teacher at all times.
To me this is pathetic, and the teacher, the School, and the Durham board of education all owe him an apology.
it just reinforces a complaint that my 15 yo nephew relayed to me yesterday, that he is really upset with the way he (teenagers) are being treated by the public. He was forced out of his TTC seat by a 30 something in a suit with a briefcase (the ttc is the transit system). and felt really intimidated/shamed.
I am ranting because I am beside myself that thsi guy was treated so poorly just because of his age.
