A charter for my new group.
So, I've an idea for an organization. Let it be known as the "International Association for the Conservation of Apostrophes." Let it educate the public about the proper use of the punctuation mark apostrophe, because I swear I'll end up killing myself if I see too many more of them where they shouldn't be. It started with those little wooden things that people put on their house that read something like "The Smith's." Dammit, unless you are "The Smith," then the house is that of the Smith family, spelled "Smiths'." Now it's everywhere it shouldn't be. Here are some examples I've seen recently:
(On a concession stand sign) Chip's: .50
(On a flyer) The winning floor's will win a party.
(In an instant message) I have the shit's.
I am actually curious to see if you all have been taught the correct use of the apostrophe, and if so, does it bother you to see such misuse???
