Apocalyptica Fans - New Apo Album!!
I just opened the latest edition of Apo's catalog -- HOLY SHIT!
For those of you who endured the last album, Reflections, this is a welcome return to the non-strophic structures of Cult and Inquisition Symphony. I'll edit in a song-by-song later on, once I've internalized it. But for now...the technique is amazing. One of the songs features serious treble clef cello action, and below-the-bridge scraping is awesomely back. Unfortunately (IMHO) there are a few vocal tracks and they generally take away from the innovativeness of solely cello playing. Drums are sadly ubiquitous but less annoying, more at home in the songs. One of the pieces, Death Zone, is unnervingly similar to Cortege from Reflections, but because they refrain from the verse-chorus-verse format, it really shines in a way the latter cannot. That's all for now.
