will not be electric, second 4 speed automatics are controlled by only 2 shift solenoids, and no relays.
transmission may be an old 440, 4t40 or most likely a 4t60. slips in overdrive maybe the 4th gear clutch pack, a burnt up TCC, a couple of things. however my first check would be of proper fluid level and condtion (color + smell) and then to check to make sure your getting vaccum at the modulator. these setups were notorius for the vaccum elbow at the throttle body leaking and the trans not getting proper vaccum at the modulator.
