I can hear you there, Blue. No matter what I do, I cannot quit drinking caffeinated cola product. I am addicted. From what I can tell from your profile, you go to ASU? (I go to Oregon State.) I'm assuming, that ASU, like OSU, has a health/fitness connection service on campus, either through your student health services, or through the gym on campus.
Meeting with a nutritionist and a trainer is usually free for evaluations and so on simply because you pay for it in your student fees. Often times they can do things like measure your percentage of body fat and work up a sensible(and practical!) diet for you to follow as well as a fitness regimen. This is probably the most sensible way to go about losing weight without quitting.
I know how hard it is because it's something I'm going through myself...I have to lose weight/exercise for the sake of my back. I've got posture problems that will probably only be solved with some weight loss.

Best of luck to you, Blue. Hopefully we can keep supporting each other! Let me know how it goes
