I can appreciate good games, it's just that ever since I bought the PS2 I've been so frustrated trying to find games that I like. For the past 5 years I've been gaming purely on the computer, not on consoles, so coming back to a platform that doesn't let me configure my controls really bothers me. I guess thats a hardware limitation or something, so I don't blame the game for that.
As for the game itself, I have a few issues that probably only bother me..
1. The controls, obviously. I don't like having to hit the crouch button twice to make him stand up.
2. The point of views from the camera. Seems like the people are always just out of frame and it's a pain in the ass to have to switch to first person all the time just to check. Why can't it have an over the shoulder third person view like Tomb Raider?
3. Since when is it considered fun to apply healing oils and bandages in a game? If they were shooting for realism, maybe they shouldn't let me stop time in the middle of battle to do this.
4. There's a certain level of cheesyness that I've come to expect from Japanese game makers, but watching Ocelot "meow" to bring out his troops made me laugh my ass off since they want me to take the plot so seriously. And if they don't want me to kill him and cause a "time paradox" why leave his unconcious body in front of me? That's just bad story arranging there, like rail-roading me.
5. This is more of a movie than a game.
Needless to say I didn't finish the game so I can't make a final judgement on it. But it seems like this is an "emperor has no clothes" thing to me.
