PvP is suported aslong as both players concent beforehand, If not then the offending player will become wanted within that provence. Its only downfall so far has been that the rate at which you gain experiance in specfic skils is directly related to your Intelegance Wisdome and Disciplin Stats. This is fine if you are play a character that you normaly would beef up these stats with (Like a mage or a cleric), but it seems to bring a bit of dificulty in later on with other professions if they neglect to advance these skills. Anyway, its got a 30day free trial thing happening at the moment so if you are interested in learning more, the best way would probably be to play it.

Be very cautious with any game made by Simutronics (any game on the play.net website). I can't speak directly to DragonRealms, but I've been playing their most popular game, Gemstone III/IV for about the last two years and just quit. Simu has a hideously bad track record for releasing what they say they will when they say they will. Stuff that was promised to be done before I started playing hasn't been completed. Leveling is pretty fast early on but gets VERY tedious past mid game. I had a train 49 (of 100) rogue when I quit and I was moving at just under a level a month with casual play. 1k of experience per hour is average absorb rate and a level was about 85k experience total. That's a lot of hours of work. Additionally, any skills acquired outside of leveling take forever to acquire. Lots of repetitive commands or scripting to get ranks in skills that generally aren't that useful in the big picture anyway.
That being said, Simu's games have some of the best roleplayers out there, which, despite problems with gameplay and the company, kept me there for a lot longer than I would have stayed otherwise. I've made some great friends through Gemstone and had a variety of great, memorable experiences. Most of my friends left though, and playing the game for the game's sake was more frustrating than interesting or fun.
I've found WoW to be a great time even when I have had no PC interaction. The world is immersive and the quest system allows for tangible rewards and a sense of accomplishment on a regular basis. PVP ganking is kind of weak right now, but it'll improve once I get out of Ashenvale (one of the most hotly contested areas in the game). Ironforge and Stormwind lag like hell for me, but I'm quite sure that's much more a function of my computer being subpar than it is anything to do with the servers.
Hope that helps.
