If you are interested in game design, after you finish high school and college you might want to check out the
Guild Hall. My buddy went there, got a lot of good education in game design, got a good internship working on the upcoming Brothers in Arms, and several job offers in the gaming industry.
Also, there's no reason to wait until someone else teaches you Java.
