The whole time I've been reading this thread, I've been put off by it. Not by the subject matter, but by the attitude of the original poster. I've got nothing wrong with being vulgar or for even trying to be an intentional ass, but when I came across this comment, I finally realized what it was that has been bothering me.
You've said in one short sentence what everyone has been probably feeling for the past four pages of posts.

My mother in-law contracted Hepatitis C in 1983. I've only known her for 5 years, which were the worst years for her. We almost lost her on more than one occasion. I realize there is a difference between A and C, but I have an inkling of what you went through, from an observer's standpoint. Trust me, there's no way this poster will ever understand unless he goes through it himself or has a loved one go through it. He wouldn't be saying "gee, that's bad" if he had. I'm glad you're doing well. My mother in law is in remission and has been negative now for 1 full year. She's getting her health back finally and is back to enjoying life.
