Some of us have no interest in attacking them, and are quite happy to be friends.
I'm not saying there is anything wrong with playing PvP. I have characters on two PvP servers that I made for the sake of playing and communicating with friends who decided to go PvP at launch. Just as a different perspective here, there are a couple things I've noticed about PvP servers.
One thing that really stands out is the lack of maturity or intelligence in the public channels. Now don't take this as a general insult, I am
NOT saying that everyone who plays on a PvP server is an annoying twit. I am instead saying that a visible majority of the people who constantly talk in open channels are annoying twits. There are plenty of dorks on the PvE servers too, but I've not found it necessary to filter out General chat on PvE like I do on PvP.
Another major issue is the total lack of protection against being ganked by someone many levels higher than you. There is currently NO penalty for a level 60 deciding to run around and kill people 30+ levels below them. Currently there are a good number of bored level 60's running around doing just that. I'm sure there are some decent people out there who use PvP in the spirit it was intended, but they are vastly outnumbered by the griefers. During peak hours it can be virtually impossible to do quests or XP without being ganked on a regular basis by someone against which you have no defense.
Once again, don't take me out of context here. I don't have anything against people who like PvP. I'm just saying that unless you pick up WoW specifically because you want to engage in PvP that you'd probably be happier playing on a PvE server and having the PvP aspect of the game be voluntary.
