They aren't as common as they once were but you will still see a few here and there.
I wouldn't doubt it if Ford released the new Mustang to the police department for interceptor duty. They'll be getting slaughtered in the cruiser department by the Hemi powered Dodges until they get a replacement for the Panther cars but they would be able to corner a niche in the market again with a police issue Mustang.
