2nd degree? Sounds like you're a smart guy. It also sounds like you're intelligent, motivated and rich. I don't have those things, lots of people don't have those things. Why do you feel the need to make us feel worse off than we already are? I've made the decision, I "got off the fucking pot." I'm not trying to hold anybody else up. If you think you've got what it takes to be a rocket scientist, then by all means, go for it. If, however, you recognize that you're not really very smart, you're kind of ugly, anti-social, without money or resources, then maybe you're better off taking that crappy job and eeking out some pleasure from alcohol than wasting your life in a vain and futile attempt to be an astronaut.
