How many of you ever picked this album up? I was at CD Exchange in San Antonio yesterday and saw it there for $5.99 so I said "Eh what the hell? I'll give it a listen." and picked it up to see if it was any good. One of only a few albums I ever purchased blindly. Ya know the critics tore this album apart if I remember correctly and it's actually not bad! It's pretty good for a first effort. I'll admit it has a few songs that just really drag on for a while haha like "Don't Leave Me This Way" (7:52) but thats actually a pretty good song. It has a few throw away tracks but some that are really good. Coverdale has some really good vocals scattered around and Page..well you can't go wrong with Page. Robert was an idiot not to want to go back in the studio with him back in the 90's. Jimmy threw down some really great guitar work on this album. Now I said "pretty" good for most of this album because thats what it is...Robert Plant went on interview about it a little bitter and said "Yeah it's like Led Zepplin but it's like BAD Led Zepplin ya know?" which is kinda true but still good now the only song on there that isn't "pretty" good is "Take Me For A While" I have to admit that song is actually really fuckin awesome...I love it. The studio work on it is fantastic..the string arrangements...keyboards, Jimmy's solo is awesome. Well no secret Jimmy is a studio genius.
Well those of you that did pick it up? What did you think of it? And if you haven't heard it in a long time, listen to it again and get back to me on that.
Asta!!
