I have found so many things I've made an occupation out of it.
I used to be the person to go to if you needed something, anything random. Toaster oven? Got three right here. New boots? These'll fit you. Wicker love seat? There's one on the porch you can have.
I used to work at a laundromat and one of my tasks was cleaning the dryers out. One year I actually constructed a christmas tree out of hangers, lint and objects found in dryers. I think it was the year before that, my mother saw this coat she really wanted in a store while we were christmas shopping. I couldn't afford it - I think it was $50 and being a student I just didn't have that. My mom was disabled and on a fixed income so she couldn't just buy it for herself. About a week or so later, I was cleaning out a dryer and I found a gold nugget! The thing had a loop soldered on top, like it had been a pendant on a necklace. I sold it and got $50 for it - exactly enough to buy my mother the coat for christmas. I am still so happy that I did that! I know that if I had just gotten myself something, I wouldn't even remember what it was now.
