A number of manufacturers making CRT monitors (ie. Diamondtron™, Trinitron™) use aperture grille technology, which is a construction of hundreds of fine wires suspended in a vacuum.
The wires are held horizontally by one or two damper wires, which prevent the grill from vibrating and causing the image to blur.
These damper wires may appear as two fine lines on the screen and are often more visible on a white background. They are an integral part of the design of this type of monitor.
I have dual 17" Dell monitors with Trinitron Tubes and I have never seen as good image on another monitor. I never seen the lines unless I am really looking for them.
They are a small price to pay for an amazing image. Buy it!
