Location: In my angry-dome.
I lived in a duplex for several years. The neighbors were in their 60's and the guy ended up moving to Phoenix. The lady wasn't doing well, physically she was a wreck. Bad hip, on a walker, very hard of hearing, and her eyes both had obvious cataracts. At one point I began to notice her television was getting loud. Very loud. It progressed over a month to insanity. I could pick out half the words on my side in the furthest room from her living room! Worse, she was in front of it all day and evening, only pausing for regularly scheduled food breaks. That was worse than a constant din since you were just waiting for it to fire up again. It was then I learned CNN at dial position 11 is not the best ambiance for bringing dates home. :/ It was bad enough I contemplated sneaking over the garage wall to install a high-pass filter on her set.

Fast forward 6months: I was changing jobs and moving, and had more opportunity to speak with her. Turns out she had some form of brain disorder and the surgery almost destroyed her hearing, temporarily. I did noticed the volume was better, but wasn't home as often to notice or worry why. On one of my visits to her side I got a good look at her television set. It was a little 25" antique. Big curved tube and one little speaker. It still amazes me how she managed to terrorize me and my friends with that little monophonic fossil.
