Happy birthday George

I don't have the audio for this yet so the story is hard to relate in writing via the internet.
It's been played via AM radio today and once it becomes available then his true "matter of fact" approach will shine through.

........................................................................................................
I listened with tears in my eyes today to this 000 call.

George turns Five tomorrow.

No big deal for him other than the usual fair for a boy of that age.

But George is a champion.

George’s Mum owes him her life.

As she lay unconscious on the floor of the family home he had the presence of mind to ring 000 and relay important information to emergency authorities that would ultimately save her life.

The operator talks him through and mentions that the "Ambulance & Fire Brigade" will be there shortly.

“We don’t need the “Fire Brigade” sticks in my mind the most.

It doesn’t get much better than this.

4yo boy calls 000 to save mum

Few four-year-old boys can say they saved their mother's life but George Haramis has been hailed a "little hero" after he phoned 000 and asked for an ambulance for his mother, who lay unconscious at her Melbourne home yesterday.

His mum Helen, 32, from suburban Mill Park, has a history of a serious heart condition.

"I started to feel faint and light headed. I called to George and that's the last thing I remember," she said from her hospital bed today.

"When I was told my son called the ambulance my first response was: `he's four'."

Ms Haramis said she had never taught her son to ring 000 but following her lucky escape called on all parents to teach their children about the emergency number.

"In my view he saved my life. When I woke up this morning I was just so overwhelmed by what he did," she said.

"What would have happened to me if he hadn't called?"

Paramedic Lindsay Bent said Ms Haramis would not have survived if George had not made the phone call.

"For a child of four years of age to call 000 is just fantastic," he said.

"His actions are just absolutely amazing, it's fantastic that he was able to call 000 at such a young age when his mum was in such a serious condition collapsed at home.

"His actions have actually saved her life, she had a very serious complaint and was quite unwell at home."
