I used to at least drink a pot a day until 4 years ago, then I quit cold turkey (no soda, excedrin, etc). The reason is that I had become addicted, if I didn't have at least 2 cups a day, i would spend the next 2 days with a horrible headache. After the initial 2 day headache, I felt better but missed the feeling I got from it (I was tired in the morning). 6 months later I figured I would be good having a can of caffinated soda, spent the next 2 days with a headache. I have not had any caffine (yes I know chocolate and decaf have minimal amounts) since that day and have never felt better. I really isn't that difficult, although most get togethers don't automatically include non-caffinated soda and people who don't know me think I'm Mormon.
Not being a doctor, I firmly believe in the caffine sensitivity, I have had occasions where a waitress has given me regular instead of decaf and I could tell right away, from both the taste and the way it made me feel.
