I had a WebEx session with Google the other day regarding the Mini Search Appliance they just released. It looks quite interesting to me. I have no need to sift through up to 15 million documents like the larger ones can do, but the Mini seems like it might be a nice little addition to my server rack.
If you go look on the Appliance's page, they have dates they are doing the free WebEx sessions, and I would suggest sitting in on that if you're interested.
I have not had any experience with one thus far, but if the search technology is the same as Google.com, then I think of no bad things that could come from it.
