I really have no intention of becoming a hookah head, but it was definitely an experience I enjoyed and don't regret.
Drugs and alcohol aren't my thing, but I would not be adverse to hittin the hookah on rare occasions.. I don't want to get addicted though, and I'm not really a fan of inhaling damaging substances into my lungs..
Thanks for the articles, they provide some great information.
Also, a question relating to the article:
This lowering of the lung capacity.. Does it happen instantly, or over time?

I've visited a hookah lounge over here in France without realizing the stuff in the pipes was tobacco/nicotine based. After reading this article I definitely won't be going back. Actually, this was 2 months ago and I haven't been back since even without reading this.
I have to say that the atmosphere was pretty nice and it is very relaxing. That being said, the hookah itself wasn't all that great too me. Smoking weed is atleast 10 times better if you're into that. If you're not really into smoking anything, I would stay away from the hookah too. Why develop a bad habit? Anyway, I didn't lose any lung capacity nor did I become addicted after 1 visit to answer your questions. I play basketball over here and practiced the next day so I definitely would have noticed a reduction in my ability to breath. Hope this helps.
