Exactly. If you want to understand the concept of God, it's important not to personify too much. We do things and create things because we have needs and the things we do are a means of fulfilling these needs. An omnipotent being would have no needs and would certainly not require any means by which to fulfil them. The whole exercise of making anything would be utterly futile.
We can only conclude, then, that if we were created by a God, this God was either irrational or not omnipotent.
