And furthermore you couldn't be more wrong, as pointed out in both the article and this thread, the people were still fearful of how things were in the good ole' mother country England when the government forced the people into practicing in the Anglican church. The fact that the law of the land i.e. the constitution and it's first amendment, which again mentions nothing of separation of Church and State, it's only purpose was to not establish a national religion, or prevent the free exercise thereof atest's to that.
