I managed to finish it in time for christmas (took me almost a year to complete it...it was a king size quilt) but when I gave it to her it was all worth it. I asked her several years later if she would will it to me (I've never kept a quilt that I made..they were always for someone else) and she told me no...she intended to be buried with it....kinda hard to argue with an honor like that

I know how it feels to be giving them away - I gave away a few designs I made specifically as christmas gifts with the person in mind, but I've only made one that I gave away after I saw the look on someone's face as it reminded them of a puppy they no longer had. That was going to a much better place than sitting in my drawer. It's just so hard to go "yup, here ya go" after SO much time, sore fingers, pricked/bleeding, without making sure the reciever knows how much of a gift you're giving them.
