Let's assume we're not playing alternate history and "What if" in the conventional way; ie, what would the world be like if the US wasn't a super-power.

Let's ask the question as follows.

What would the world be like if the US had never existed?

In other words, what if the US had never come about at all?



My guess would be something along the lines of

1) The world would be much worse off
2) Great Britian would still be a global super-power
3) Possibly (probably?) Germany would have won WWII, or at least achieved stale-mate (a la the book "Fatherland")
4) The Soviet Union would still exist and great swathes of Europe would be under a totalitarian regime.
