Just because your eyes are open doesn't mean they aren't blind to the truth. Why else would Americans give the government so much power if we weren't afraid? Why else would George W. Bush be POTUS if we weren't afraid? Look at the last election, the platform of both candidates rested on fear: fear of homosexual marriage, fear of future terrorist attacks, fear of a failing economy...the list goes on.
