Hi all,

I'm thinking about buying a used car from the years 1996-2004 with a budget of $10,000USD.

Mostly for drving around town (Los Angeles) and perhaps once a week 40 mile roundtrip mostly highway to grandma's.

Typical models I'm looking at include:

Honda Civic
Toyota Corolla
VW Jetta

Others:
light SUVs or cheap models - Expedition, Navigator
Station wagons too: Volvos

Fantasy or "want" car:
BMW - 3 series (318, 325)

My real question is: Are salvage titles legit? Are they worth it or should I not bother considering it?
