Weight is an issue. Where do you run? If you're in sand smaller tweaked engines seem to work better. It's been a while but I've seen two 900+cc conversions in Florence. Both sounded great, threw profuse sand clouds, but could hardly get out of their own way, let alone compete with the more nimble quads buzzing around them.
Are drags a big part of your riding?
