...but this pantera comment... it's basically pointless to refute it because it's so innaccurate. not only are dimebag's riffs melodic and (to some) memorable, they're certainly more complex than those of the bands you noted, let alone "E POWERCHORD CHUGGING". with metal, you often have to look to the guitar lines for melody, not the vocals. if that's not your cup of tea, so be it, but to say that metal doesn't have melodic qualities is simply untrue.
