Thanks for all of the personal feedback guys. The only thing is that my brother is pretty set on an Ipod for now. I'd probably look into something else if it were for me.
So are there any preventive measures that can be made to hopefully not hurt the battery life? Redlemon mentioned encoding but I'm not sure what that means. I just ripped songs, imported them into Itunes, then shootthem to the Ipod. And if the battery does get bad, will he be able to send it to Apple or an 'aftermarket' company to have it replaced for well under $100?
