Bowling for Columbine was good as a comedy doc
My all time favorite is the Documentary on The West Memphis 3 (there were actually two of these, the original and a follow up) about the teenagers accused of the "satanist" murders. I've watched both of them many many many times...has anyone else?
Quote:
In 1993, three eight year old boys where murdered in west Memphis Arkansas. Their bodies where dumped in a ditch. The local police, at their wits end to solve the crimes, singled out three teenaged boys to blame for the crime. Their case was movitated by the teenagers image: they wore black concert t-shirts, listened to Metallica, and where kind of weird.
Those three young men are still in prison even though there was no physical or scientific evidence tying them to the crime or to the victim.
Two documentaries where made about this case. Paradise Lost: The Child Murders At Robinhood Hills, and Paradise Lost II; Revelations. Both documentaries won several awards and critical acclaim.
Frightening and maddening, these documentaries force us to ask many questions about our judicial system. Whether you are interested in social justice, or just want a good Halloween-style scare, these documentaries will do it in a way that the Blair Witch Project can't: The story of the West Memphis 3 is absolutely TRUE!
