I just saw
Primer last night and, despite the movie losing me (in terms of understanding) a little after the half-way mark, I still thoroughly enjoyed the movie! So, I went to IMDb to see what others thought and I was surprised by how many people vehemently hated it. I think everyone thought it was confusing (including the people who liked it) but the main complaint was (much like
The Village) that it was boring.
Now, I'm not known for a keen attention span, but I was intrigued throughout the whole movie, even during the half where I was confused and didn't really know what was going on. Perhaps it's because I'm not easily discouraged and feel that there's a chance to pick up what's going on a little later in the movie (never happened) or that I can figure things out on a second viewing (which I plan to do but not in the theatre).
I don't know. All I know is that I liked it and it wasn't just because it had some interesting ideas. The tension between the entrepreneurs made the story interesting on an emotional level, too. So, really, it's hard for me to see why so many people found it so boring...
