The article states "NFL 2K5 was available in stores in August for $19.95. For three months, the Madden game was priced at $49.95, until the company finally relented on Nov. 8 and lowered it by $20."
I bought Madden 05 within the first 3 month period, so I paid the full price. I don't know for sure if it is $30 everywhere, but the article insinuates it is.
On a related note, I bought NBA Live 05 (EA Sports) for $30 bucks a few weeks ago from Best Buy, I was surprised it was so cheap.
