We have a ribbon on top. It's a tradition that started when my wife and I had our first christmas on our own and couldn't afford an angel or star. We had to borrow money from my parents just to get a tree. What ever we didn't already have, we had to make due. Now the ribbon reminds us of everything we have and not to take it for granted.
