For starters, no one with a .45 is going to do it ;-)

Heck, you need to hold over more than 2 feet to hit the target. Drop at 100 yards in ball ammo is 28 inches. Also, the .45 doesn't even make 500 foot pounds at the muzzle. Even out of a thompson SMG.

I know several people who've gone hunting with Ruger Redhawks, and a one who regular used a Thompson Contendor in .308 to take javelina. Pistol hunting can be a dangerous sport...
