www.natchezss.com sells CCI Blazer 0.45 ACP for about $7 a box when you order 20 or more. Including shipping it goes to $8 per 50, which is about as good as you'll get if you don't reload. I've heard a lot of good things about it from the folks at m1911forum.com, so I decided to give it a shot (or about 1000) and bought a case.
My handgun is a Springfield Armory MilSpec 1911 in Stainless. I shot 200 rounds and had it jam once, but I'm pretty sure the failure was because I was limp-wristing it. It's not perfect, but at $450 used (maybe another 200 rounds before me ) I'm quite happy with it. Only problem is the hammer bite; the sucker is murder on my hand. I plan on installing a beavertail safety sometime soon, but until then I guess I'll just have to suffer a bit.
