Yeah, the term "hacking into a webcam" is a little misleading. He probably did not actually hack into her webcam, he just got some kind of Administrator access to her machine. This is very easy, perhaps even trivial on Windows machines. He could've used any number of DCOM exploits, or maybe she didn't use a password on her machine, or maybe she inadvertantly gave this guy her password with a little social engineering.
Also, I can say your doubts about it happening before are wrong. It
has happend and
many tools exist for doing exactly what this guy did.
As for the chances of him watching her at the exact moment of nakedness... Dude, use a little common sense. The moment he got access to her webcam and realized the potential for catching her nude, he probably watched that thing 24/7 until he got what he needed. I don't know about you, but I usually get naked at least once a day when I get in the shower, so it wouldn't take someone that long to catch me changing.
Really, this story isn't hard to believe and judging by the novice comments she made about the attack, I'd say she really didn't know this could even happen to her. For that reason, I must feel sorry for her. It's one thing if you know something bad can happen to you and you don't do what you should to prevent it... it's another if you have no idea. Now, if three months from now the same thing happens to her, I'll call her a dumbass ... but for now, I feel sorry.
