I didn't understand your first sentence but, given the second, I take it you don't think a sample of 1000 is very representative of a
sample space of 2,000,000,000. However, the fact of the matter is that 1000 samples is enough to represent the height of a population of 2,000,000,000 to within a reasonable degree. That's why statistics is such a powerful tool. Statistics are only misleading because it is practiced by people, like yourself, who don't understand it...
