What skin type do you have (oily, dry, combo) and are you using makeup for your skin type.
In the summer, my skin gets really oily, and any cream or lotion foundation basically floats (or sweats) right off my skin-- so if I use a powedery foundation, it stays on longer.
In the winter, my skin is dry, and unless I use a moisturizer, any makeup blows off my skin.
I thinkit's InStyle magazine that does an annual issue on cosmetics, and mentions the cheap ones (it's one of themagazines) what the advice there is don't skimp on foundation, and other stuff, like eyeshadows, blushes and such can be much cheaper.
I really like the Bare Minerals (you know that annoying infomercial) I found just the foundation at an Ulta store and really like it. It was alittle expensive, but it lasts a long long time.
For longer lasting eyeshadows, try to find the cream shadows (MAC are superb but give an intense color, Urban Decay comes in unique colors, CG makes a really nice one, and the "cheapie" brands -- I think it's NY Company orsomething-- walgreens sells it for like 2 dollars- is also quite good.
Mascara - I swear by CG great lash -- in the pink tube-- love it..
Lip color-- Loreal has pretty good staying power, but I don'tlike the long wearing ones. To make your lip color last longer -- use a lip pencil and fill in your lipswiht that -- then use the lip stick for added color and shine.. the cheap stuff there works just as good.
