Homemade burgers are very easy are considerably nicer than frozen ones. Here is what I do:
-Mince beef (if you can and it isn't too expensive get the butcher to mince some steak offcuts for you - then you'll know there isn't any spinal cord in it)
-Breadcrumbs, approx 1/3 vol of mince.
-An egg
-Some *cold* fryed onions, fried with garlic maybe.
-A finely chopped chilli (optional)
-Some sort of herb, parsley or coriander is good.
Mix that lot together, make into patties and fry in a hot pan with oil (I like mine to be a bit rare in the middle). I don't bother with a bun and cheese because they taste great by them selves. Its dead simple and the recipe is one of those ones that has a few variations.
Here is an easy but unusual chip(fries) recipe to go with that:
Chip some potatoes, that is cut into 1cm sticks. You can leave the skin on. In a baking tray, add some oil and as much crushed garlic as you like and coat the chips with this mixture. Sprinkle with rock salt or normal salt and pop in a 200C oven for about 20-30 minutes, giving them a good shake half way through. Very tasty and no deep frying!
