The 64-bit circus, as mentioned in the article, is certainly NOT ready for prime time, and there is exactly zero reasons to go there unless you are a beta tester or a computer science student/professor/professional.
If you just wait, 64-bit computing will iht its stride, but 32-bit computing is fast, stable, and easy to access right now.
The one thing not mentioned in the article (he DID say it was a Windows article after all) is that there are several distributions of Linux/Unix etc. that will compile and run on these 64-bit machines and will run in 64-bit mode. As well, there are 64-bit apps for them as well, though most apps are still running in emulation, albeit faster.
so, there is light at the end of the tunnel, but unless you have a good tan and don't mind spending A LOT of time in that tunnel, ignore 64-bit computing until it gets a bit more mature.
