its hard to find jobs if your a minor, and its hard to find jobs if you're in school but since hes on this board hes 18 and/or over and he has some retail/customer service experience. Its going to take some effort to find a job but he can do it. Also he'll probably go through the same thing.. slashed hours for the first month or 2 so they can evaluate you.
Ive had the same problems, because of my school schedule I have all kinds of issues finding a job.
or as soon as I say Im a student they want to drop their pay rate. It always takes effort!
