If you are at school, shouldn't you be able to apply for some cushy work-study job. You might sit at the desk at the library late at night and scan people's books out or sit at the student rec center and scan people's cards. At the very least you would be on campus so you could go from class to work to studying without having to drive across town. Maybe a bit boring, but better than bagging. I've been there, man. I worked as a bag clerk and then as a cashier at a supermarket way back when. Shitty job with scheduling nightmares to add to the fun.
