In the early 90s a girl gave me a copy of Neal Stephenson's
Snow Crash, telling me that the book contained a lot of me in it. I indentified to a large degree with the protagonist of the story, humourously named "Hiro Protagonist", and in time I took it as my bbs alias (I'm a geek from waaaaay back). I've stuck with the name for many years, using it as my primary face in the underground art/warez scenes, but having grown up a lot since the early 90s (or so I tell myself) I've progressed to drawing under my first name only (Devin), which I would use for my screen name here were it not already taken. The ACiD part of my name is my art group, Awesome Creators in Demand (
www.acid.org), and seperates me from the rest of the Hiro Protagonists out there (another factor in my withdrawl from the alias).. my, this is all pretty lame isn't it?
