Yeah, it looks like the Pacers are using this incident as motivation. Lots of people have already counted them out, saying that their season is over because of this. I don't think so.
Without Artest, it'll be tougher to win the title, but they should have little trouble making the playoffs in the still-weak East. From there, who knows?
