Do get your renters insurance with your car insurance. It will end up saving you money. In my case the discount I got in my car insurance was just about the same in my monthly payment for renters insurance, so it was like I was getting it for free.
Also, some apartments require that you need renters insurance. But most of all, piece of mind.
