if i could turn on modern/classic rock radio and enjoy it, i would listen to that type of music.
the only "format" radio i can stand is rap.
i don't like the poppy punk that is "in" lately. it all sounds the same to me. and the sameness is not very moving.
i want to keep finding new music. this conflicts with the policy of playing a similar playlist for several weeks. the turnover rate in the mainstream is not high enough.
how about classic rock? i used to listen to many of those bands all the time. but somehow, after hearing the "light my fire" organ solo one time too many, i started getting bored with it. i don't see how djs can still play this stuff. it's 35 years old and they still only play 2 songs from each album.
disappointment with mainstream has led me to find other types of music. not that i reject all things mainstream...it's just an unreliable place to find somethine that interests me. and it is pretty cool if i can find a great band on the "underground."
