Alright kids! I'm an OU alum. We were lucky or whatever else you want to call it to end up in the Sugar Bowl (I would ave put USC inmyself). Losing by a touchdown ain't getting "bitch slapped". As I recall (I was there)the second half the Sooners had the Tigers on the ropes and only an over thrown pass from +/- the 10 yard line kept the game out of overtime. Giving the Tigers their due, they were very good and deserving Co-Nat'l Champs.

On to Auburn: Strength of schedule counts, to date Auburns' aint so hot, though it could get better or could end this debate, as early as today ( Auburn 0, Ala 6 in the 2nd Qtr). They have played 4 teams at .500+ and 3 in the polls

OU won 4 games against ranked opponents on the road and won 7 games against .500 + teams. USC has 5 teams above .500 , and 3 ranked, but won 2 games against sub .500 teams on the road, by single digit margins and was never questioned, nor did they lose any ground, which OU did while beating ranked opposition on th road. I find this a little difficult to stomach. USC has beaten 4 teams with records better than .500 one of which is UCLA who OK State pounded at UCLA.

I think it is obvious that depending on who you root for a case can be made for your preference in pairings. Look at he defensive team stats if you like USC and AU as your pairing.

One other minor issue. If a number 1 team is immune to being moved down, because they don't lose, why is it so much easier to do so with a Number 2 in the same situation. We (OU) have had the target on our back all season and have gotten the job done. Auburn reminds me of the Sooners in 2000. We started about the same place in the polls 17th and had to have help to get to the title game. Auburn needs to have USC or OU stumble to get their shot.

If the Sooners don't end up in the Orange Bowl I will be dissappointed, but I won't be squalling that we were robbed. All these teams and conferences agreed to the BCS (which I don't care much for) so however it shakes out will be OK. I think OU would and will beat whoever they play in a bowl game, barring some bizarre rash of injuries. The polls are supposed to be estimations of this years performance without reference to last year. I believe USC is getting sympathy consideration because they got "screwed" last year. I think they are likely a close 3rd, but shake 'em all up in a sack and their ain't much difference. OU may be being punished by some pollsters after last years finish.
