actually, there is no question that a fetus is a living thing. the question is whether or not it is a human organism or a (for lack of thinking of a better term) a precurser to a human organism. and what rights does it have? those are based on how we classify a clump of cells that are human in origin, but may or may not have developed into a human organism.
