Okay, I'll use a specific example.
"Saw" Spoiler: Put a bullet into the arm of the younger protagonist, and had the older lead saw off his leg. While the older lead went to get help, the audience thought that they were gonna survive. But then they went too far, and had the "dead guy" get up, and reveal himself as the Jigsaw killer. Me and everyone I saw it with thought it would've been better if the orderly was the Jigsaw killer.
