That was exactly my point. When faced with danger my instinct is to run, not attack. It would take a cooler head to even remember there was a gun in the car, much less aim carefully and hit what you shoot at without getting a bat broken over your skull because in the heat of the excitement you forgot to flip the safety off.
I admit that the "throwing away my soul" was a little over-dramatic. What I meant by that was I think that if I took someone's life I would have trouble sleeping, eating, looking into a mirror, laughing, or enjoying anything for a long, long time. In short, it would fuck up my life a lot more than losing a car or any other of the "precious items" I currently or will ever own.
